The Home Office’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2024 revealed that half of businesses and around a third of charities report having experienced some form of cyber security breach or attack in the last 12 months. This is much higher for medium businesses and high-income charities.
As part of the law enforcement response to cybercrime, we see the impact an attack can have on a company’s finances, reputation, and staff morale. Protecting your organisation online can be difficult, but we’re here to help.
There are dedicated staff from Devon and Cornwall Police, Regional Organised Crime Group (ROCU), and Cyber Resilience Centre who provide cyber security guidance, workshops, and other resources for your organisation, regardless of size and sector. These can include staff inputs covering basic cyber security advice, to hands-on incident response exercises, to vulnerability assessments.

Finally, if you’ve been the victim of cyber crime, please report it to Action Fraud, the national reporting centre for cyber crime and fraud. If you are a business, charity or other organisation which is currently suffering a live cyber attack (in progress), please call 0300 123 2040 immediately. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also report phishing emails, texts, and scam websites through other UK services (more information can be found on this NCSC page)
