Cornwall’s leading heating, renewable and electrical service and installation company Blue Flame has won the prestigious ‘Employee-Owned Transition of the Year’ award at the UK Employee Ownership Awards!
The awards celebrate the achievements of businesses that truly deliver people power. They recognise businesses and individuals who drive effective EO practices and empower employee owners to unlock Great EO impacts.
Blue Flame made the transition to 100% Employee Ownership in April this year, following the retirement of the company’s two founders, Mark Bolitho and Paul Smith. Long-standing employees Matt Dennison and Grant Doe were appointed as Company Directors of the new Employee-Owned business, having begun their careers with Blue Flame more than 20 years ago.
Winning ‘EO Transition of the Year’ recognises the Blue Flame team as a shining example of a business that became employee owned between 1st September 2023 and 1st September 2024, demonstrating strong leadership and a thoughtful approach to EO transition, landing Blue Flame in a great position to develop its employee voice and EO impacts.
James de le Vingne, Chief Executive of the eoa said “Congratulations to Blue Flame on delivering the EO Transition of the Year from the pool of exceptionally high calibre entries we received this year, taking great care to ensure your business is in the best position to deliver Great EO impacts.”
“Blue Flame is an exemplar in the sector of proudly employee-owned businesses working with us to lead the way in developing Great EO practices and delivering People Powered Growth in the UK.”
Blue Flame’s Managing Director, Matt Dennison explained “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award which recognises the efforts of everyone within the Blue Flame team for coming together to work towards a common goal. Moving to employee ownership brings with it so many opportunities, many of which we have only just begun to explore, so to be recognised in this way so early in our journey is something we are very proud of.”
Shortlisted alongside three other national companies, Aspect, Ignis and Wildfire PR, the winner of the ‘EO Transition of the Year’ award was revealed at a gala dinner celebration on Tuesday November 26th at the Telford International Centre during the annual EOA Conference.
