Volunteer and Activity Coordinator (Maternity Cover)

Urban Biodiversity – the team behind Newquay Orchard - are looking for a Volunteer and Activity Coordinator to join our team.  This an exciting 9-month fixed term contract to provide Maternity Cover for the current role holder.

Newquay Community Orchard is a community and wellbeing hub providing inclusive access to volunteering programmes, education, training, and community events. We believe this will contribute to a resilient and sustainable community that is good for people, the environment, and the local economy.  We are a beautiful 7-acre site with a traditional orchard, market garden, makers space, indoor and outdoor education rooms, performance space and a community building with café and cowork space. Your role will be to coordinate the range of support and activities available at Newquay Orchard and match these against the need within the community of programme participants.  The main aim is to reduce or remove barriers to employment, education or training for individuals referred to the Orchard, or seeking support to improve their wellbeing, employability and quality of life.  This includes recruitment and organization of our community volunteers to increase the capacity of Newquay Orchard to achieve its vision, mission and aims in line with our values. 

We are looking for someone who has a passion for community and believes in the potential for connection with people and nature to improve health and wellbeing and help everyone to fulfil their potential.  You will be an organisational whizz and a great teamworker.  You will be also be a talented communicator who is able to really listen to our participants to find out what is important to them and help them decide how they want to get involved to help them to achieve their personal goals. 

This a full time role – 37.5 hours a week.  The salary for this role is £24,000 per annum.  We offer an amazing place to work with an awesome team.  Our benefits include:
