Governor - Voluntary Position

Posted: 09/16/2024

Truro School are seeking to recruit two new Governors who are interested in applying their skills and/or experience within a rewarding voluntary role, helping to shape our young people’s future.

The Board of Governors work closely with the Head and Senior Leadership Team and acts as a “critical friend”, providing challenge and support in equal measure. Our Governors have integrity, strong personal and professional values and a willingness to challenge and ask questions along with an understanding of the needs of the business and an appreciation of the Methodist ethos of the School. You will be supporting the delivery of educational excellence and be responsible for ensuring the clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction for the School.

We welcome interest from anyone who feels they have the right skills or experience to contribute to the work of the Board. At this time, we are particularly keen to hear from those with a professional accountancy qualification and from individuals with experience in sustainability to join our Finance and Estates committees.

We actively encourage applications from all members of society, regardless of background, culture, gender, ethnicity, disability, or age. Importance is placed on “mind-set, skill-set and tool-set”. Full training and support will be provided. Cornish residency is desirable but not essential.

If you have a passion for education and would like to positively contribute to a strategic plan and ensure there is scrutiny and oversight of the curriculum and pupil experience, we are keen to hear from you.

Please submit your CV and a covering letter to the Clerk to the Governor’s office: rb@truroschool.com by Monday 7 October 2024.
