Dr Harry Pitts | Dr Harry Pitts is Director of Business Engagement & Innovation for Humanities & Social Sciences at the University of Exeter’s Cornwall Campus in his hometown of Penryn. His academic research and writing explores the politics and economics of fairer work futures in local and global context. As part of the Institute of Cornish Studies Social & Economic Research Unit, Harry leads a programme of research and business support focused on “Good Work” in Cornwall as part of two Shared Prosperity Fund projects, Evolve Futures and Entrepreneurial Futures. He is involved in the ‘Fairer’ strand of the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Civic Universities Agreement. Harry is a Fellow of the Institute for the Future of Work, a Co-Investigator of the Economic & Social Research Council Centre for Sociodigital Futures, Secretary of the British Universities Industrial Relations Association, and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at University of Bristol Business School. |
Kirsten Whiting | Kirsten is a workplace wellbeing geek and inclusion advocate. She has an MSc in Workplace Health and Wellbeing and is fascinated by what makes the working world go around. As a proud Cornishwoman she is passionate about making Cornwall a great place to live and work whilst recognising the unique challenges that face many people and businesses in the region. |
Simon Nicholson | With 30+ years’ experience in the engineering and manufacturing sectors, operating at Board Director level, improving productivity through people engagement across global multi-nationals through to SME’s. |
Laura Whyte | Laura is the Managing Director and co-founder of Whyfield, a firm of accountants in Truro that specialises in all things digital when it comes to business finances. Laura is also the Chair and Finance Director of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, Finance Director of The Cornish Spirits Drink Company and the Treasurer of a Veteran’s charity. She began her career at a large accounting firm and subsequently ran the finance department at a busy regional construction company. With a range of qualifications under her belt, Laura progressed her studies alongside growing Whyfield and is always keen to build her knowledge to be able to support clients. Laura’s outstanding commitment to the profession and supporting businesses has resulted in her winning several awards, including Business Person of the Year, Most Influential Business Person in Cornwall, and IAB’s Small Business Mentor of the Year. She was also a double finalist at the National Women's Awards and a finalist at the international AAT awards. Whyfield is also an award winning practice in its own right, and an early adopter of the 4-day work week! |
Frances Tanner | Frances is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in facilitating growth and innovation across various sectors including the tech, nuclear and film industries. With a wealth of experience in directly supporting setup, operations and strategic planning in high-growth startups, Frances now brings this expertise to supporting others as they embark upon their own business ventures. Currently part of the University of Exeter’s business support team for the “Evolve Futures” programme, she continues to contribute to the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the South West, working to build practical business knowledge and valuable connections for the entrepreneurial community by delivering workshops, business-readiness events and mentoring support. |
Tom Lintern | Tom is an experienced AI and Data Science business executive from New Zealand, with a track record of developing and commercialising data products within the real estate and e-commerce industries. Tom is an Industry Fellow at the University of Exeter focussed on helping Cornish businesses to realise the benefits of AI. |
Josh Parkin | Josh Parkin is one half of the RDA System. Their goal is to help 10,000 people in Cornwall become stronger, happier and healthier. With decades of combined experience working with people from all areas of business Josh and Jack understand the impact improved health and wellbeing can have on not just the individual but the whole company. RDA works closely with companies to help improve their teams health and fitness whilst providing them with the correct toolkit they can use daily to thrive. They are committed to changing the face of corporate wellbeing. |
